Children’s Games & Silly Contests

Silverado Canyon, CA, July. 2008 – Come on out to Silverado and experience how the last of the “Simple Folk” join hands for a jamboree! Just miles from the inner city life of Orange County, lies the little ‘ole town of Silverado Canyon. This country town of less than 1,500 residents was once part of the 1800’s silver boom! The 37th Annual Silverado Country Fair explores the wonders of the area’s Old West rustic culture, great live music, tasty food, handmade arts and crafts, family games and silly ‘ole timey’ contests, all nestled under the Oak trees below Orange County’s famous Saddleback Mountain.

The 38th ANNUAL SILVERADO COUNTRY FAIR opens at 10:00 AM with live performances of music, dancing and gun ‘slingin’ fun, local art & craft merchants and the “by golly tastiest and wholesomest country cookin’ ya ever ate” both Saturday and Sunday. Highlighting the event will be the Silverado Characters, old town reenactment group, infamous for “robbing” local stores, shooting varmints, and getting everyone in the spirit of the “Wild West!”  Country, Bluegrass, and Classic Rock bands will entertain throughout the day, including a special Saturday performance bythe Oozie Blues Band, veteran blues musicians with SOUL. An extended evening event, The Saturday Night Music Fest, will rock the canyons with live Rock‘n Roll and Blues bands from 5-10 pm. Headliners of this special event are the OC’s award winning Celtic band Sligo Rags, the smokin’hot Blues Gone South, and rock n’ roll cover band, Jack’s Bad Monkey!

The Silverado Country Fair is held at the Silverado Community Center, located just one mile into Silverado Canyon, and only minutes away from the cities of Orange, Lake Forest and Irvine. Come experience one of the last Wild West towns of the OC and invite your friends and family! You’re all welcome to DRESS WESTERN and bring ‘yer country attitude!
